COVID-19 Vaccines Primer

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This webinar begins with a review of the basic immunologic processes upon receipt of a vaccine and expounds on some important principles about vaccinology. The 4 major types of vaccines are enumerated and its mechanisms of action are described. Finally, the efficacy and safety data of each vaccine with available Phase 3 trials are discussed at length. The webinar will conclude with a question and answer segment.
OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the session, each participant should be able to:
- Enumerate and define the following vaccinology concepts: immunogenicity, reactogenicity, and herd immunity
- Discuss the various types of vaccines available against COVID-19
- Describe the safety and efficacy profiles of selected COVID-19 vaccines
- Explain the concept of risk-benefit assessment and how it relates to the COVID-19 vaccines
